Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
Hi guys, wanna say thanks first for all your effort.
I compiled my kernel from ubuntu git tag Ubuntu-lts-2.6.35-14.20 with config from the latest 2.6.32-24-generic-pae-phc at your ppa (from /boot). I'm running 10.04. As you guys know the 2.6.35 kernel is patched with "if ((cpuid == -1) && (num_possible_cpus() > 1))" in drivers/acpi/processor_core.c by default.
I decided to take the risk and rename the inc/2.6.34 folder to 2.6.35 in order for the prepare.sh script to find a matching patchset. It is reporting phc_vids correctly and so far the temp are like what I used to get both w/ & w/ out load.
Hope it stays like that and is there any other way to test it? Anyway I can help you guys by running tests or something?
Thanks

Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
I compiled my own kernel on maverick and the modul as you described above.
I am getting the following error:
$ sudo modprobe phc-intel
FATAL: Error inserting phc_intel (/lib/modules/2.6.35.4-phc-custom-04/extra/phc-intel.ko): Device or resource busy

@ober: Is the kernel still running stable and without any problems when using the module you build?

Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
I can confirm this is working on Maverick. Running the Linux-PHC kernel, I copied the 2.6.34 folder to 2.6.35, make, make install, and PHC is working. CPU temp at load went from 65 to 50.

Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
go into the 'inc' folder and create a new folder named '2.6.35' and copy everything from the '2.6.34' folder into itJusb wrote:how do you do that?hardran3 wrote:I can confirm this is working on Maverick. Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
I just made a patchset for the 2.6.35 for those who want phc-intel.ko to be based upon the acpi-cpufrec.c from the 2.6.35
I don't promis it wil work without anny problems, but at least it compiles and runs for me
Please post your findings.
BTW: 2.6.36 is next
edit: use update below

Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
For the fast peaple already wanting to run 2.6.36 here is an unofficial update for 2.6.36 it is not yet tested as i havn't got the chance to build a 2.6.36 with cpufrec as module (using ubuntu) but wil do asap (but kan take som time on my atom
)
This version contans also a litle update of the 2.6.35 version i posted earlier (the first line of the patch was still talking about a 2.6.34
) and a future proof update of the prepare.sh (to copy also the mperf.h on kernels starting from 2.6.35)
please post your findings
greats simon
PS: you guys are lucky that i had 2 hours free between two classes

Re: Supposedly working on 2.6.35 Ubuntu Kernel
Hi to all!!
It's a long time I use phc, very successfully
Because of this heavy bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... mments=all
it's possibile to build in ppa a patched version of 2.6.36 kernel? This is first version that solve the problem.
Thanks!!
