Are there any error messages after you Updated the Package Reposity Information?

No, no errors. Added the public key manually with sudo apt-key add -
then updated...

here are my entries

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/linux-phc
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/linux-phc/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/linux-phc/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
