Got it working on a Dell M1530 with a T9500 2.6Ghz Dual Core by compiling the 2.6.36 x86_64 kernel and adding this as a module, quite a steep learning curve though.
Anyway temps on Dell reduced from 50-52 C on idle to about 40 C and peak load from about 98 C to 75 C so fairly spectacular.
This is a great concept and surely there's some way to get it sponsored into the Kernel directly? There's plenty of manufacturers who would benefit from it.
